Club Closure – Thursday 5 November – Wednesday 2 December

November 4, 2020

We have now had official confirmation from the LTA about the new lockdown in England.

Sadly, this confirms what we all expected – i.e. that all recreational tennis is banned from tomorrow Thursday 5th November until Wednesday 2nd December.

Here is the LTA’s statement:-

“The Government has announced new national restrictions for England between Thursday 5 November – Wednesday 2 December.

Despite the LTA and tennis community making a strong case to Government, we can confirm that the new restrictions mean that tennis activity in England is not permitted for the duration of the national lockdown, as a result of the closure of all outdoor and indoor facilities. The only exceptions to this are for elite tennis players, and for tennis activity in schools, colleges and other educational establishments as part of education.

Whilst we are disappointed with the outcome, we must urge all involved with tennis in England to adhere to the decision that the Government has taken.”

No doubt you are all as disappointed as we are. So the Club will be closed for this entire period. Our groundsman, Ali, can continue working and he will take the opportunity to work on the clay courts so that should improve the drainage and hopefully give us more available court time.

We will be in touch if there is any change to the restrictions.

Keep well and stay safe.

Bewdley Tennis Club Committee

We are an open and inclusive club who welcome all ages and abilities. We have seven floodlit courts with a variety of surfaces which will hopefully accommodate most players’ preferences.

We have organised mix in sessions for women, men and mixed as well as a dedicated Junior night.
Whether you are an existing player who has recently moved to the area, someone who has played previously or a complete beginner, we would love to see you.

Please come and join us!
